The Best of the Best
. . . My research of past performance, dating back 50 years, shows that as a mutual fund selection tool, past performance is a dismal failure. That goes for long-term past performance too! Advisors have long frowned on short-term performance, but held long-term performance success as reason #1 to consider recommending any fund. My research proves that even long-term performance success has as much predicting acumen as a coin toss. That is why my Mutual Fund Report Cards do not consider past performance in evaluating which funds should do well in the future. Scoring all funds using my thirteen attribute system produces Best-of-the-Best and Worst-of-the-Worst lists. Over the years, the BOB list has produced top category performers 81% of the time.
Here are the equity income funds with the best score for 2008.
